Lianhuachi Park, named after the ancient relic Lotus Pond, is known for its lotus planting and cultivation. Its history can be traced back to the Jin Dynasty, more than 800 years ago. On June 13th, twin lotus flowers on one stalk were selected from the lotus base inside the park and placed in the "Variety Lotus Flower Exhibition Area" for public display. The variety of the twin lotus is called "Xiaofeng Liangyue", a large-sized variety with double-layered pale pink petals. The lotus pond in the Grand Canal Forest Park covers an area of over 500 acres, with more than 30 different varieties of lotus flowers. The main locations for enjoying the lotus flowers are the Vibrant Jungle Area, Yuedao Wenying Area (Moon Island and Nightingale Area), and Yingfeng Qiushi Area (Silver Maple and Autumn Fruit Area). Within the lotus clusters, wooden walkways and waterfront platforms have been specially constructed, allowing visitors to appreciate the lotus flowers up close. The lotus flowers in Olympic Forest Park are mainly concentrated in the wetland of the park's southern garden and the Qinghe diversion channel, covering an area of approximately 25,000 square meters. The lotuses in Yuyuantan Park are mainly distributed in the East and West Cherry Blossom Small Lake, as well as the "Wanping Hexiang" scenic area on the southwest shore of West Lake, covering a total area of 20,000 square meters. There are four varieties of lotuses in the park, mainly the Baiyangdian red lotus and Wufei lotus, with relatively fewer white lotuses and Daziyu lotus. The Daziyu lotus is the only variety with double petals and its flowering period can last until the end of August.
