Guide to Lotus Viewing in Summer | Olympic Forest Park

2023-06-21

The lotus flowers in Olympic Forest Park are mainly concentrated in the wetland of the park's southern garden and the Qinghe diversion channel, covering an area of approximately 25,000 square meters. In addition to lotus flowers, the park also cultivates a variety of aquatic plants such as water lilies, reeds, and irises. Combined with features like the Die Shui Hua Tai (cascading water terrace) and Chen Shui Lang Dao (sunken corridors) in the park, it creates a picturesque scene that resembles a beautiful landscape painting.

To admire the lotus flowers along the Chen Shui Lang Dao near the West Gate, one must walk through almost half of the park starting from the South Gate. Following the map's instructions, after traversing a slightly rugged dirt road by the stream, you will reach the corridor. As you walk onto the bridge, the true appearance of the lotus flowers finally reveals itself. You will see a vast expanse of lotus fields surrounded by reeds on both sides. The leaves of the lotus, like waves, cover the entire lake, while the pink lotus flowers stand out amidst the sea of green, some proudly holding their heads high, while others hide beneath the leaves. The sound of cicadas echoes in your ears, presenting a magnificent summer scene before your eyes.

As you descend from the bridge, the reeds on both sides obstruct the view. However, if you continue walking forward, a small wooden bridge will come into view. Standing on the bridge and looking ahead, you will see the "Big Nail" Olympic Sightseeing Tower not far away, seemingly hidden among the lotus ponds. Taking out your phone and capturing a random shot will result in a breathtaking landscape photo.

Address: No. 33 Ke Hui Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing.
