Guide to Lotus Viewing in Beijing | Grand Canal Forest Park

2023-06-21

The lotus pond in the Grand Canal Forest Park covers an area of over 500 acres, with more than 30 different varieties of lotus flowers. The main locations for enjoying the lotus flowers are the Vibrant Jungle Area, Yuedao Wenying Area (Moon Island and Nightingale Area), and Yingfeng Qiushi Area (Silver Maple and Autumn Fruit Area). Within the lotus clusters, wooden walkways and waterfront platforms have been specially constructed, allowing visitors to appreciate the lotus flowers up close. With a gentle breeze, the refreshing fragrance of lotus permeates the air.

If we talk about the most spectacular lotus pond, it would be the Yuedao Wenying Area. Standing on the bridge, overlooking the hundred-acre lotus ponds on both sides, with a gentle breeze and calm water, visitors can watch the lotus flowers swaying in the wind. This creates a magnificent scene, complemented by the nearby red viewing platform.

Amidst the lush greenery, some lotus buds are still waiting to bloom, while others have already fully blossomed. The colors vary, with some having a delicate pink hue, while others are vibrant and eye-catching. These scattered lotus flowers adorn the entire lotus pond against the backdrop of lush greenery. As you walk closer, you will feel a refreshing coolness, followed by the sight of lotus leaves and flowers swaying in the gentle breeze, as if beckoning you. The thin and pink lotus petals flutter in the wind, resembling a piece of delicate veil.

When choosing a location to enjoy the lotus flowers, the entire Yuedao Wenying Area stretches for nearly 2 kilometers, with blooming lotus ponds throughout. Visitors can freely choose their preferred spots for photography and appreciation.

Address: Grand Canal Forest Park, Tonghuai Road, Zhangjiawan Town, Tongzhou District, Beijing.
