Amidst the bustling crowd, the "Old Books, New Knowledge, Bell and Drum Book Rhyme" cultural market stands out with its unique charm, conveying the fragrance and rhythm of books, showcasing traditional Chinese culture, and allowing visitors to fully enjoy the fun of book hunting.

Co-sponsored by the Propaganda Department of Dongcheng District and Beijing Publishing Group, and organized by China Bookstore, the "Old Books, New Knowledge, Bell and Drum Book Rhyme" series of activities are held regularly at the beginning of each month and continue until October. During the May Day holiday, China Bookstore's Zhongguancun, Dengshikou, Yanchi Building, Xinhua Bookstore-Wabao Bookstore, and Xinjiekou stores have prepared a variety of special activities for the public, including exhibitions, experiences, antique book collection and exchange.

The "Reading and Enjoying Youth" celebrity works and biographies special exhibition, specially launched by China Bookstore during the holiday season, attracts the attention of people from all over. Biographies of Chinese and foreign celebrities such as Lu Dingyi, Guo Moruo, Grieg, Montgomery, Stilwell, and Chaplin are rare varieties on the market.

At the cultural market, cultural and creative products with strong traditional cultural elements are particularly popular. The "Pieces of Truth" series of cultural and creative products are made from salvaged and protected ancient books and fragments from previous years. Ms. Ma from Changji, Xinjiang said, "These ancient book fragments, through mounting, present the beauty of tradition."

Children also enjoy happiness and joy at the market. At the Xinhua Bookstore pet bookstore booth, Kong Deqian, a second-grade student from Zhongguoyou Friendship Primary School, used five-color stamps to complete animal protection stamps. "There are four stray cats in our courtyard. I feed them cat food and even built them a small house, so I specially checked in with the animal stamps." Some children also tried their hand at steel plate printing, and the handmade embossed Beijing postcard series, especially the Beijing Drum Tower, is cherished by many out-of-town tourists.
