As a traditional folk art, Changli Yangge Dance originated in the Yuan Dynasty and has a history of more than a thousand years. The ancestors of Changli prayed for favorable winds and rain, and abundant harvests through uninhibited dancing, expressing their emotions, cultivating their character, and yearning for a better life. This is the prototype of Changli Yangge Dance. It has been continuously inherited and developed by the people of Changli from generation to generation, from simple actions to complex dance. From performing on roads to performing on stages, it has gradually formed a relatively complete art form. For many years, whenever there are festivals or celebrations, Yangge dance troupes have been ubiquitous in the cities and countryside of Changli, and self-entertainment, self-performance, and self-expression have become a traditional custom passed down from generation to generation.
