Walking here is like being in a tropical rainforest. There are tropical fruit trees rarely found in the north, oversized banyan trees and rare tropical plants here. Some of the plants here come from Xishuangbanna, some from the Middle East, and some from Australia. These plants are brought in by ship, train and plane, and are carefully cared for and kept alive. Among them, the "Buddha's Belly Tree", "Bischofia Polycarpa" and "Grand Banyan Tree" are the treasures of the Garden of World Flowers.
The most eye-catching of the tropical rainforest greenhouses is the spectacularly tall "Buddha's Belly Tree", which is named for its thick pole resembling a "Buddha's belly". The tree, which is nearly 300 years old comes from Australia. It is an exceptionally valuable species and is protected as an endangered plant at the national level. The over 400-year-old Bischofia Polycarpa is the most valuable plant in the greenhouse. It is 12 meters high, weighs 1.6 tons and has great ornamental value. The "Chinese Yew" is an ancient tree left by the glacier in the fourth century, and the Dragon's Blood Tree is classified as a third-grade protected plant in China. Cyathea is one of the endangered ferns in China. There are also Canadian date palm from the Canary Islands, coconut, old man's anemone, cattail, bread tree and cottonwood from Hainan province. All of them come from all over the world and live together in harmony here.
