Located in No. 1 exhibition hall in the south section of the first floor of the Chinese Garden Museum, the Chinese Ancient Gardens Hall takes the theme of "Long-standing and Profound" to systematically display the development history, gardening skills and cultural heritage of Chinese gardens for more than 3,000 years.

With an area of 1,670 square meters, the exhibition hall is composed of five parts: the creation of Chinese gardens, the turning point of Chinese gardens, the prosperity of Chinese gardens, the maturity of Chinese gardens and the collection of Chinese gardens, witnessing the glorious development of Chinese classical gardens. Among them are the physical remains of the foundation of Chinese palace gardens, such as the "Royal Garden of South Yue during the Western Han Dynasty", the typical representative of the literati gardens of the Tang Dynasty, "Bai Juyi's Residence Garden in Lvdao Fang", and the representative of the royal gardens of the Song Dynasty, "Gen Yue". Highlights of the collection include "People Guarding the Courtyard with their Left Feet Cut Off", which reflects the characteristics of the origin of Chinese gardens, "Deer Tile" and Shanglin Tile, which reflect the magnificent construction of palaces and gardens during the Qin and Han dynasties, "Woman Washing in Chunyuan", a line engraving of a stone groove from the Tang dynasty, "Blue Lotus Blossom", a relic stone from the royal gardens of the Song dynasty, and "Yuan Ye", a Ming engraving of a work on Chinese gardening, as well as "Su Yuan Shi Pu", a genealogical record of painted stones.
