Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven, located on the east side beyond the Zhengyangmen, is where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties "sacrificed to heaven" and "prayed for the grains." The altar is round in the north and square in the south, representing "heaven and earth." The garden's more than 60 ginkgo trees look royal, evocative, and dignified against the scarlet wall and the imposing Qinian Palace. The golden ginkgo leaves shine like golden brocade in the sunlight, making a ginkgo "golden corridor".

To find the golden memories, visitors to the Temple of Heaven should enter the park through the north gate.
