Peking University is a comprehensive and national key university. The campus, known as "Yan Yuan"(the garden of Yan), is situated at Haidian District in the western suburb of Beijing, with a total area of 2,743,532 square metres (or 274 hectares).
The campus is adjacent to Yuanmingyuan in the north and Summer Palace in the west. Making full use of this rare historical heritage, PKU has built a picturesque campus environment featuring both the grandeur of the royal gardens and the beauty of the landscape in Jiangnan. Not only are there classical buildings such as pavilions and pagodas, but there are also mountains surrounded by water, together with lakes and islands interspersed with embankments, making the scenery pleasant.
Weiming Lake and Bo Ya Pogoda are the iconic sights of Peking University. Southeast of the Weiming Lake is The Bo Ya Pogoda. The Boya Pagoda is 37 meters high with 13 stories. The two characteristics, “Bo” means knowledgeable, and “Ya” stands for elegance. It used to be a water tower built in 1924. Now it has become one of the symbols of Peking University. The Lake and the Pagoda are just like a romantic and faithful couple, hand in hand for almost 100 years.
You must make a reservation before visiting the university, and this can be done through the university's Wechat account.
