It is one of the two most famous Buddhist temples in western Beijing, together with the adjoining Tanzhe Temple, and most tourists who come to the west of the city to worship Buddhism and pray for good fortune will visit both temples together. The temple was created during the Tang Dynasty, and the most famous component of the temple is the Temple of Precepts, which was erected during the Ming Dynasty and is still well preserved today. The Temple of Precepts is the first in the country in terms of scale and importance. The royal family granted and erected the temple, which has held high importance for many years.
Today, the temple is a lovely Buddhist Garden, with antique buildings and ancient trees reflecting each other in a tranquil and quiet environment. In addition, the temple has a stunning scenery including a peony garden. It is quite popular to come here to worship Buddha and ask for blessings, as well as to admire the ancient pines and photograph the flowers.
