Shijia Hutong Museum is the first of its kind in Beijing. It was officially opened to the public on October 19, 2013. The museum records the history and culture of Shijia Hutong and carries the memory of old Beijing. No.24 courtyard of Shijia Hutong was once the residence of Ling Shuhua, a famous talented woman in the Republic of China. Build on the original structure of the courtyard, the museum has eight exhibition halls showing the historical evolution, celebrity stories, past and present life and other aspects. In the exhibition hall of memory of the times, a special room called “Sound of Hutong” attracts many audiences. This small studio-like room is equipped with professional audio equipment. By clicking on the touch screen, you can hear more than 70 kinds of different “hutong sounds”.
