Forbidden City

The Forbidden City is putting on its golden cloth against the red walls and under the blue sky, adding a solemn feeling to the ancient building.

According to the rules of the ancient royal families, not many trees are planted in the Forbidden City. Luckily, there are still some hundreds-year-old Maidenhair trees in certain Palaces, such as the Hall of Martial Valor (Wuying dian) and the Hall of Literary Brilliance (Wenhua dian).

Royal Temples

The Temple of Heaven in the south, the Temple of the Sun in the east, the Temple of Earth in the north, and the Temple of Moon in the west are four prominent royal temples in Beijing.

Different from the Forbidden City, these royal temples are all planted with trees. It is said that about 60 Maidenhair trees have been planted 50 years ago in the Temple of Heaven, and you can find even more ancient trees nearby, perfectly matching the old buildings.
