If you need to stay for certain time in Beijing, please apply for stay permit by following steps.

1.What to Prepare in Advance

► Valid passport or other international travel documents.

► Completely filled VISA / STAY PERMIT / RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION FORM with recent half-length, white background, bareheaded, full-faced 2-inch color photo. Please fill in the application form in black ink or sign pen.

► Valid accommodation registration of the applicant obtained from local police station or hotel of present residence.

► Foreigners enjoying visa exemption shall provide relevant supportive documents in line with F, Q2, S2, L, M, X2 visa application according to their respective purpose of stay. Foreign nationals bearing an APEC Business Travel Card shall provide relevant supportive documents according to their urgent issues for stay.

► Foreigner whose status of residence already ends but stills needs to stay for humanitarian reasons shall submit the current visa and other relevant supportive documents (for example, if their work or study have finished, the applicants shall submit relevant supportive documents as proof on the completion of work and study, such as Graduation  Certificate, Certificate of Separation as well as an application letter stating details of the situation).

► For new-born baby, submit birth document, passport and parents' passports.

►Applicants who have just finished renunciation of Chinese nationality, shall submit Renunciation Certificate of Chinese Nationality and documents related to the purpose of stay.

►Exit-Entry Administration & Foreigner Service Center of Zhongguancun Science Park (No. Jia 22, Shuang Yu Shu Bei Li, Haidian District)

►Exit-Entry Administration & Foreigner Service Center of Chaoyang Sub-bureau (1st & 2nd Floor, Building 304, BEZ IT PARK, No. Jia 10, Jiu Xian Qiao Bei Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing) (Only available for foreign applications of the following categories: first, foreign employees in demonstrating entities and enterprises in Chaoyang District who meet the terms and conditions in the 10 Immigration Policies on Supporting the Comprehensive Pilot Program for the Expansion and Opening of Service Industry in Beijing and the 20 Immigration Policies and Measures for Innovation and Development of Beijing by Ministry of Public Security; secondly, applicants of foreigners' residence permits of employment, international student, family reunion and private business. )

►Exit-Entry Administration & Foreigner Service Center of Shunyi Sub-bureau (1st & 2nd Floor, No. Jia 3 Office building, Tian Zhu Dong Road, Shunyi District, Beijing) (Only available for foreign applications of the following categories: first, foreign employees in demonstrating entities and enterprises in Shunyi District who meet the terms and conditions in the 10 Immigration Policies on Supporting the Comprehensive Pilot Program for the Expansion and Opening of the Service Industry in Beijing and the 20 Immigration Policies and Measures for Innovation and Development of Beijing by Ministry of Public Security; secondly, applicants of foreigners’ residence permits of employment, international student, family reunion and private business. )

►Exit-Entry Administration & Foreigner Service Center of Shijingshan Sub-bureau of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau: No. Jia 3, Gu Cheng Nan Li, Shijingshan District (Only available for applicants of foreigners’residence permits of employment, international student, family reunion and private business. );

►Exit-Entry Administration & Foreigner Service Center of Tong Zhou Sub-bureau of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau: Building 1-2, No. 67, Yu Dai He Xi Street, Tong Zhou District (Only available for applicants of foreigners’residence permits of employment, international student, family reunion and private business. )

Important Things to Know:

1.Timeline for Application

►Foreigners with APEC card can apply for visa with validity of less than 30 days.

►Foreigners, after their status of stay ends, can apply for visa with validity of less than 30 days.

►Infants born in China can be issued with visa with the same validity as their parents.

►Applicants who have already renounced Chinese nationality can apply for stay permit of less than 180 days.

►Foreigners, for other situations, can apply for visa with validity of less than 180 days according to their purpose.

2.Points for Attention

►The applicant shall go through a face-to-face interview. However, for applicants who are aged under 16 or above 60 and inconvenient to travel due to disability, or apply for an extension of residence permit, the relative of applicant or a particular service agency can submit the application on behalf of the applicant (a copy of the trustee's ID is required). Nonetheless, if the Exit-Entry Administration Department notifies the applicant that an interview is necessary, the applicant must go through the interview personally.

► For the above-stated materials, the original documents need to be verified, and the photocopies submitted.

► Any application material in foreign language (except English) should be translated into Chinese.

► Applicant who doesn't nullify China's household registration should apply after the cancellation of household registration.

► Foreigners under 18 who submit the application for the first time in China shall prepare the Birth Certificate or equivalent document, passports and permanent resident permit of parents and other relative documents as certification of nationality.

3.Legal Reminders

►During the period when the applicant's passport or other travel document is under legal custody of the exit-entry authority for the issuance of visa or resident permit, the applicant may, bearing the receipt notice of the application herein, travel and reside legally within the territory of China.

►The exit and entry administration authority of the public security organ may verify the purpose of application through such means as interview, telephone inquiry and on-the-spot investigation.

►Decisions made by the exit-entry administration of public security organ on rejecting applications for extension or reissuance of ordinary visa, or on not issuing foreigners' stay or residence permits or not extending the duration of residence shall be final.

The right to interpret this Instruction shall reside in the Exit-Entry Administration Department of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau.
