Yanqi Lake

Qinglianggu
Beijing Qinglianggu Scenic Area is located in the Sihetang area of Shicheng Town, Miyun District, Beijing, 90 kilometers away from the city. It is located on the outskirts of Beijing and is on the shady slope of Yunmeng Mountain. Wuling Xifeng Scenic Area
Wuling Xifeng Scenic Area covers an area of about 20 k㎡. The vegetation of the primary secondary forest is as high as 96%, and all scenic spots are naturally formed. The scenic spot was completed in 2002. There are two tourist routes: a large ring road that travels around the entire scenic spot and a small ring road that surrounds the western scenic spot. Penghewan Scenic Area
Beijing Miyun Penghewan Scenic Area is located in Pengheyan Village, Shicheng Town, Miyun District, and is a 3A-level natural scenic spot. Penghewan is a river canyon that flows from Baihebao Reservoir to Miyun Reservoir, and it is also known as the “Three Grand Canyons in Beijing” along with Yongding River Guanting Canyon and Juma River Canyon.
The Baihe meanders from the Baihebao Reservoir in Yanqing District to the east to Miyun Reservoir. This 130km road is in harmony with the surrounding mountains and beautiful forests, forming a dynamic landscape painting.
The cliff face in the Penghewan scenic area looks as if it was cut by knife and axe, with trees and their shadows, the thousand-foot Baiyun waterfall falls straight down into the vertical cliff. You will find the pools are filled with immortal water, and the waterfalls look like white clouds, and you can set your imagination free for any possibility.
The “Sanguan Cave” in the cliff has the footprints of countless anti-Japanese heroes, including Bai Yihua Commander, General Wang Kang, and Fengluanmi County Mayor Li Fangling, demonstrating the historical fact that ancestors squandered their youth and hot blood for the independence and liberation of the Chinese nation. The peach forests all over the mountains are gorgeous and colourful, making people think about the passed days and people.
Penghewan is naturally beautiful, and you cannot find any trace of carving by human. In this unique natural and cultural landscape, looking around or just close your eyes for an imagination, you can feel the power of human as well as the vastness of nature. “White clouds and waterfall comes down from the sky, gently the river opens its arm, with wild ducks swimming on it, and mountains are covered with flowers”.
The Thousand-Chi White Cloud Waterfall is located in the Penghewan Scenic Area, which is located 700m into the scenic area along the entrance of the scenic area. The river stream drops vertically without any support, which often appears on the steep swell formed by the broken layer or differential erosion of the river channel which is suddenly interrupted.
The 108m Thousand-Chi White Cloud Waterfall is the highest waterfall in Beijing. Just because of its height, when the water flows down from the top of the cliff, it is broken into countless drops, fluttering and sprinkling, in a row, falling from the sky. Under the sun shine, they are all crystal clear like pearls. The waterfall fell into the White Cloud Lake, and Koi happily swam around. The green cliffs beside the waterfall were dotted with clusters of green plants, just like a giant ink painting.
Visitors can swing a boat on Baiyun Lake to get close to the waterfall, taking pictures and so on. When the sun shines directly, because the waterfall splashes on the cliff and becomes water vapor, there will be a beautiful rainbow hanging in the sky. Looking up, you will understand the feeling of “Flying waters descending straight three thousand feet, Till I think the Milky Way has tumbled from the ninth height of Heaven.”

Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall

Jingxi Eighteen Pools
Jingxi Eighteen Pools is located in Anjiazhuang Village, Wangping Area, Mentougou District. At the north foot of Qingshuijianshan Peak at the altitude of 1528m, it is famous for its deep valley, unique stones, water and flowers.
Here you will awe at the majestic peaks and mountains; the steep cliffs; the deep canyons; the peaks and rocks of different shapes; lush and green original vegetation; colourful flowers and weeds, wild fruits and vegetables of each season.
Mr. Zhao Yonggao once praised it in his poem: Zhang Zong of the Jin Dynasty used to travel here, in the waves wonders appear. The natural scenery of the mountains and rivers is turned into the Eighteen Pools in Xijing. In July the heat scorches everything, it would be great to go for rafting on the Eighteen Pools. Chasing waves with your shirt wet, that should be endless fun.
Going up the mountain, the first thing coming into your eye is the Mingyue Lake, which is like a bright moonlight. Although the pool is small, the water is clear. The mountains in the north are majestic, but are usually lack of water. The winding mountain springs in the Eighteen Pools are a spectacle. Yuanyangtan (Mandarin Duck Pond) is already beautiful in its name. Yuan and Yang refer to male and female birds respectively, thus Yuanyang is a compound word. Mandarin Duck is a famous ornamental bird in China. The reason why it is regarded as a symbol of love is that they always appear in pairs. It is a bird that often found in ancient Chinese literary works, myths and legends. People often use Mandarin Duck as a metaphor for love. It seems that this Pool must be related to love.
Up along the mountain, you will find stones in interesting shapes everywhere, after years of vicissitudes, they coexist with the mountains. Everywhere is full of greenery and great sights, ferns provide a bit of verdant, decorating the view of the whole mountain. Spring water flows down quickly, becoming waterfalls at every cliff and turning into pools in every valley, the green hills on both sides are green, and the valley is empty with decent smell.
Going up the valley, the shapes of mountains are wonders with peaks and folds. Neither the mountains and stones nor the springs follow a regular shape, sharp stones split the water and the sound could hit the cliff caves; birds and animals gather near the sharp cliffs, and the plants hanging on the cliff wall is dense and decorated with flowers.

Shuanglongxia
Shuanglongxia Gorge is located in the south of Huocun Village, Zhaitang Town, Mentougou in West Beijing. The scenic area is summarized as: “Ten Li of Stream, Hundreds of Waterfalls, Thousand Mu of Red Apricot, and Ten Thousand Acres of Forest Sea.” It is a national 3A-level scenic spot and is known as “Little Jiuzhai”. Temperature in summer here is 18~24℃.
Shuanglong Gorge is 15km long, the main peak of Laolongwo is 1,646m above sea level, the altitude of the mountain spring is 960m, the entrance of the scenic spot is 480 meters above sea level, and the total length of the scenic spot is 5km. At the entrance, you can take a small train into the scenic spot, and you will see two dams which can store more than 10,000 cubic meters of water. Two waterfalls of more than 25m are naturally formed.
The Shuanglongxia water-blocking ring dam has 5 steps, and is 18.88m high and 95m long. When the lake is turned over, the dike can form a waterfall about 60m wide. It can fly 18m at its farthest, like flying beads splashing jade, like the Milky Way falling. The water of Shuanglongxia Lake is not too wide, but it is meandering, beautiful, quiet and far-reaching. It is called “five bays, eight branches and ten-li long”. The green mountains, trees and bamboo, blue sky and white clouds reflected in the water are clear and picturesque.
In summer, Shuanglongxia Mountain is full of flowers, and there are abundant plants that can be viewed and have medicinal value in the scenic area, producing fragrance that make people intoxicated. This include peaches, cloves, jujubes, wild peppers, roses, rust red chrysanthemum, baicalin, motherwort, purple husk, lily, wild strawberry and so on.
