Sanlian Taofen Bookstore (Sanlitun Store)

Sanlian Taofen Bookstore is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Life · Reading · New Knowledge Sanlian Bookstore. It is a large-scale cultural enterprise established in August 1996, and demonstrates the history more than 80 years of Sanlian Bookstore to readers in the new historical period, thus having a greater impact on society.

In April 2014, Beijing Sanlian Taofen Bookstore promoted public reading and implemented Mr. Zou Taofen’s spirit of “serving readers wholeheartedly” with practical actions, expanding the brand influence of Sanlian Bookstore, establishing a 24-hour bookstore and achieving whole-day operation.

In April 2015, it opened a branch in the Tsinghua Tongfang Building; in April 2016, it opened a branch in the Beijing Government Affairs Centre; in January 2018, it opened a branch in Kuanzhai Alley, Chengdu.

A book can change the temperament of a person, and a bookstore can change the temperament of a city. Sanlian Taofen Bookstore does its best to provide high-quality reading for the public. China Bookstore (Yanchilou Store)

The “Chinese Bookstore, Beijing Yanchilou Branch” jointly built by the Xicheng District Government and the China Bookstore opened in 2015. This is the first “non-closing” bookstore under the China Bookstore and has become a new landmark of Beijing culture.

It has a building area of 1100 ㎡, with 10 rooms in the west and 4 in the east, divided into two floors. During the construction of the Yanchilou project, China Bookstore aims at building “one of Beijing’s landmark buildings” and “witness of the history of Beijing in the Ming and Qing Dynasties” and making Yanquelou a cultural project that serves the public to read and lead a quiet urban life. It was built to be the favorite place for scholars in Beijing.

The first floor on the west side of Yanchilou is a display and sales area for popular books, mainly covering ancient books, literature and history, art, social sciences, traditional Chinese studies etc.; readers are equipped with corresponding reading facilities in this area, so that they can choose their favourite books in a comfortable environment; they also offers four treasures in the study (writing brush, ink stick, ink stone and paper), handicrafts, etc. to fully meet different needs of readers; at the same time, they provide services such as ancient book restoration, collection and sale, which is also a special business of China Bookstore.

The second floor of the west side of Yanyi Building is a comprehensive display area. The reading area on the second floor is set for open-frame reading. Books here are of different types and themes, including both new ones for reading and ancient wired ones for admiring. In addition to the reading area, there is also a small lecture area on the second floor, as well as book signing and selling area, traditional culture teaching area, etc., where ancient book exhibitions, cultural lecture halls, book clubs, seminars and other cultural projects will be held to fully demonstrate traditional culture and Beijing features.

As a unique national reading space, the China Bookstore (Beijing Yanchilou Branch) allows readers to experience traditional culture and appreciate the cultural charm while reading, and to enhance the quality of spiritual and cultural life of local residents while presenting Beijing’s historical culture to the public. “I am A Book Store, don’t ask which book store, it is A Book Store.” Isn’t the slogan is humorous and down to earth?

At night, A Book Store is illuminated with warm lights, and the colourful reading slogan “Posters” on the glass door are quite eye-catching. For example, “The desire for knowledge should be satisfied immediately-within 30 minutes, good books will be delivered to home, buy or borrow, that’s your choice”, “Fall in love before marriage, read a book before you buy. Borrow the book home and buy it if you love it. 30,000 new books on the shelf for you to choose”...

Founded on August 17, 2018, “A Book” is a membership-based community bookstore operated by “Former Internet Practitioner”. As a bookstore with Internet genes, “user needs and guidance” has become their major feature. With the launch of the face-scanning access control system independently developed by the bookstore, members can come in to take a rest and read something they like, no matter how late it is due to work overtime.

In the face of the epidemic, “A Book” has upgraded its products and services. For example, it has set up 100 theme book lists to match high-quality books with readers’ interests; books can be borrowed online or offline, and delivered to home; they also have 3 to 5 activities per week , including themed sharing lectures, etc., which can be watched both on site or online.

Xinhua Bookstore (Flower Market Branch)

Xinhua Bookstore (Flower Market Branch) locates at 134 West Huashi Street, has been opened 24 hours/day since October 2017.

This 24-hour bookstore has a total area of 1300 ㎡。 Both the first and second floors will be openning during the day, and after 9p.m., only teaching reference book area on the second floor will be closed.

There are many simple tables and chairs in the bookstore, decorated with tall and eye-catching green plants. Next to the tables and chairs, there is a beautiful water bar, where coffee, drinks, light meals, and snacks are all neatly arranged. There are also stationery and small toys sold on the left side of the bookstore.

Just walk inside and you will reach the reading area of the bookstore. You will find many readers reading and studying at the desks in the bookstore. You can also search for books in front of the smart device on the first floor. This device is especially designed for readers to choose and buy books.

Page One (Beijing FUN)

Page One Bookstore was founded in Singapore in 1983, and features rich and high-quality design and art books. In 2018, it was rated as “Beijing Top Ten Cultural Consumption Landmarks”.

Page One in Beijing FUN is an internet celebrity bookstore. With a simple design, it has a total of three floors, all bookshelves are to the ceiling. Most of the books here are in foreign languages.
