Established in 1863, the 156-year-old deluxe Astor Hotel Tianjin, a 5-star venue located 4.1 km from the Tianjin International Exhibition Center, has developed food based on Sun Yat-sen's diet.

Sun (1866-1925), a revolutionary leader known as the Father of Modern China, chose the Astor Hotel Tianjin several times.

Born in Guangdong, known as food town, he was very familiar with food principles and diet.

He spoke highly of Chinese food and cooking, which he thought was at the beginning of 20th century China's most competitive edge around the world.

Vegetables are good for human health. Astor's restaurant has, based on Sun's diet developed a new dish which is made up of four kinds of vegetarian essence fungus, day lily, tofu and bean sprouts.

After Sun Yat-sen launched the Xinhai Revolution in 1911, ousting the ruling Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and founding the Republic of China in 1912, he came to northern China to meet Yuan Shikai, who was wielding control and attempting to establish a monarchy based in Beijing.

Nowadays, located in a business area close to Xiaobailou subway station and a church, a temple and a museum, the Astor preserves Sun's room in its historical style, offering guests with a time tunnel experience.
