A dance drama featuring legendary Chinese folk song singer "Liu Sanjie" (literally the third sister of the Liu family) began its nationwide tour Wednesday at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center.
The eponymous drama is the first dance drama adaptation of the renowned local folk tale telling a love story between Liu Sanjie, a young girl of the ethnic Zhuang group, and her lover.
The drama features a large number of local folk songs and the culture of the ethnic Zhuang minority. The performance is also choreographed with sound and visual effects, enabling the background to display a scenery that matches the plot.
The dance drama was created to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and debuted in Nanning, the regional capital, in 2018.
Organizers say that 10 performances of the drama are scheduled to take place in cities including Beijing, Xiamen and Ningbo.
