Beijing's observatory issued a yellow alert on Tuesday for high temperatures over the next four days. The observatory advised residents to take protective measures against the high temperatures.

The temperature is predicted to rise to 35 degrees Celsius from Wednesday to Saturday, and reach up to 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday in Beijing. However, the temperature is expected to drop significantly on Sunday, the observatory said.

According to the Central Meteorological Observatory, the temperature in the northern region has climbed significantly at the end of May. Compared with the same period last year, except for Inner Mongolia and the northeastern part of China, the average temperature in most regions has climbed 1 to 3 degrees.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe weather, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
