  • “Three Hills and Five Gardens” Greenway

“Three Hills and Five Gardens” is not the name of a park, but the generic terms of a greenway. “Three Hills and Five Gardens” collectively refers to the imperial palaces in the western suburb of Beijing. The greenway stretches from Beihan River in the north to Kunyu River in the south, connecting Wanshou Mountain, Fragrant Hills (Xiangshan), Yuquan Mountain, the Summer Palace (Yihe Yuan) and Jingyi Garden. Walking on the greenway, you will be greeted by exuberant green trees and quiet rivers. With a width of 3 meters, it is just right for walking.

Location: Western Beijing

Transportation Guide: the greenway has 38 bus stops. Take Bus 307, 331, 375, 429, 508, 549 and 562 to get off at Tsinghua University West Gate, Wanshou Mountain, Xiangshan, Yuquan Mountain and Yihe Yuan stations.

  • Honglingjin Park Footpath

Well-known in Beijing, Honglingjin Park is a national AAA tourist attraction and a Boutique Park of Beijing, with a total area of 42 hectares and a water area of 16 hectares. 2500 meters long, a footpath lies throughout yellow leaves and clear water.

Most of the sections are flat and gentle. When ginkgo tree leaves gradually turn yellow in October, you will feel walking in a fantasy wonderland.

Transportation Guide: take Bus 126, 306, 440, 640, 486 and 75 to get off at Honglingjin Park Station, or take subway to Dawanglu Station and transfer to Bus 486

  • Tuanjiehu Park

Tuanjiehu Park is the first choice for the senior citizens nearby to do morning exercise and for residents to walk. Surrounded by high buildings, the park is hidden in the bustling space. At first glance it may seem the pavilions are separated from thebustling city by walls. But they present two different communities. The path around the lake is like a ribbon connecting cloud, mountain, Deyue Corridor and Wanxia Xiuyi (Sunset Glow) Pavilion.

  • Yizhuang Binhe Forest Park

Liangshui River at Yizhuang is a forest with a length of 11 kilometers and an area of 106 hectares. The 90% afforestation rate of Yizhuang Binhe Forest Park is held by 40,000 arbor plants, 160,000 shrub plants and 270,000 square meters of herbaceous plants. These plants make the park an oxygen enclave. Walking leisurely either along the river or in the forest, day or evening, and seeing the leaves fall will give a wonderful experience.

Riding along the river, you will find a small button on lamp-posts between certain distances. In case of any emergency, the buttons will send a distress call to the command center near the river. This provides meticulous safety and protection for cyclists.

Transportation Guide: take Bus 665, Xing 16 or Bus 846 to Tianbao South Street, transfer to Yuntong 115 to Yizhuang Branch of Beijing Tongren Hospital, then walk 554 meters.

  • Purple Bamboo Park (Zizhuyuan Park)

“Fu Yin Zi Zhu Yuan” originated from the temple built in the Ming and Qing dynasties in the northwestern part of the park. One third of the park is water area. Elegant and quiet, the path around the lake presents you with a wonderful scenery with bamboos and green water.

Boasting three lakes, two islets and one dike, the park embraces bamboos and rippling bluish waves.
