sleep in

睡懒觉

(shuìlǎnjiào)

A: How was your Spring Festival holiday?

春节假期你过的怎么样啊?

(chūnjié jiàqī nǐ ɡuò de zěnmeyànɡ ā?)

B: It wasn't good at all. I usually don't have time to rest when I'm working so I just wanted to sleep in but I kept getting woken up by the sound of fireworks outside.

一点也不好,平时上班没时间休息,我只是想好好睡个懒觉,结果总是被外面的鞭炮声吵醒。

(yīdiǎn yě bùhǎo, pínɡshí shànɡbān méi shíjiān xiūxī, wǒ zhīshì xiǎnɡ hǎohǎo shuì ɡè lǎnjiào, jiéɡuǒ zǒnɡshì bèi wàimiàn de biānpào shēnɡ chǎoxǐnɡ.)

A: I was pretty much the same, but what woke me up was a bunch of relatives and screaming children that I didn't even know.

我和你差不多,只不过吵醒我的是许多我根本不认识的亲戚和吵闹的孩子们。

(wǒ hénǐ chàbùduō, zhǐbùɡuò chǎoxǐnɡ wǒ de shì xǔduō wǒ ɡēnběn bùrènshí de qīnqī hé chǎonào de háizi mén.)

B: Heading home means having to meet with relatives and friends, but then you don't get any rest. Celebrating Chinese New Year is really tiring.

好不容易回到家还得到处走亲访友,再加上休息不好,过年真是太累了。
