A drama adaptation of the popular movie A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella (1995) will be staged at the Meilanfang Grand Theater in Beijing from January 23 to 27.

The stage play starring Taiwan actress Michelle Chen and mainland actor Su Xiaoding follows the original storyline of the original movie.

While the story sticks close to the original, according to the director Huang Yanzhuo, A Chinese Odyssey Part Two has made some bold moves by changing the male lead angel to a female lead named Zixia.

Stage design and costumes have also been given much more attention, with 48 tailored costumes.

The drama also marks the live stage debut of Chen, a well-known TV and movie actress.
