Beijing Chi Mu Wu Shan Leisure Homestay

2018-12-13

On the east side of Hanshiqiao Wetland Park, adjacent to Muyan Road, there is a hidden homestay with a board that reads “Dajian Zhudian (Eat in or stay)” at the gate. Upon stepping into the manor called "Chi Mu Wu Shan" where the road signs, fences, doors and chairs are made of wood, you may feel like entering the Middle-earth of The Hobbits.

The tree-hole-like houses, similar to the perfect homes of the dwarfs in the movie, perch at the end of stone paths winding through lawns. Different from the wooden houses in Hobbit Town in New Zealand, some of which are just for ornament, the houses in Chi Mu Wu Shan are built for actual accommodation. The marvelous and deep caves full of light glowing as fireflies may remind you of the past thousands of years ago, leaving the feeling that the early civilization of mankind awaits you to discover.

The rooms, spacious and bright, are decorated with wood. Here you can find helmet and armor worn by the Knight of the Round Table, the old sofa used during World War II, the colored wooden horse bought from France, as well as chairs used by the civilians in the Qing Dynasty. There is a skylight on top of each room, allowing visitors to enjoy the stars.

It is said that the homestay is built with environmentally friendly materials such as old wood, painted with natural shellac. It is worth mentioning that lots of ornaments are brought from Europe. As a result, visitors could enrich their experience of the fantasy world. The designer hopes that the harmony between man and nature will reflect on landscapes, architectures and gardens.
