Route: Yonghe Temple-Beixin Bridge-Zhangzizhong Road (Duan Qirui's Former Government Building)-Fuxue Hutong-Memorial Temple of Wen Tianxiang-Dongsi Sitiao to Dongsi Jiutiao (Former Residence of Chongli, Former Residence of Li Shanren, Longfu Temple Street and the National Art Museum of China)-Imperial Palace Wall Relics Park-Pudu Temple-Donghuamen Avenue and Wangfujing Shopping Street.

Yonghe Temple: The largest Tibetan Buddhist temple is located on Yonghegong Avenue East, the north-east corner of Dongcheng district of Beijing.

You can stroll around Fuxue Hutong and other ancient buildings such as: the temple (Dacheng Temple), the hall (Minglun Hall), the tower (Kuixing Tower), the ancestral hall (Memorial Temple of Wen Tianxiang).

Beijing Memorial Temple of Wen Tianxiang, better known as the Memorial to Prime Minister Wen, is located at No. 63, Fuxue Hutong, Dongcheng District, where the national hero Wen Tianxiang in the Southern Song Dynasty (1236-1283) was prisoned and sentenced to death. It was built in 1376, the 9th year under of reign of Emperor Hongwu of the Ming Dynasty, currently including the gate, the front hall and the back hall.

You may go to the largest designated historic landmark hutong neighborhood preserved by local government.

Continuing moving south, you can find yourself in the designated historic landmark hutong neighborhood-Dongsi Sitiao to Dongsi Jiutiao. In zigzag, narrow and buzzing hutong, people live in the Beijing style, neighboring such big houses as Former Residence of Chongli and Fomer Residence of Li Shanren. Longfusi Street is diagonally across Si Tiao. In summer of Beijing, nothing is better than to eat Braised Mutton with plum syrup, snacks of Longfusi snack or Baikui Laohao.

Former Residence of Chongli

This residence borders Nanbanqiao Hutong to the east, Yueguang Hutong to the west and Dongsi Qitiao to the north, with an area of over 10,000 square meters. As the largest scale quadrangle courtyard with four doors respectively in its west and east ends, it harbors a garden in its heart, manmade rocks, pavilions, Yueya River, a drama stage and so on. It tops among courtyards of Beijing in terms of area. With uniquely shaped gorgeous house more splendid than most princes’ palaces, it is known as “the best house in Dongcheng District”.

Longfu Temple Snack Street: it is located at the west of Dongsi North Street. Longfu Temple is the only one with Fan (Lama) and Chan (monks) co-located. In Qing Dynasty, it became a pure temple for Lama. It is busy street lined with one-hundred-meter-long snack stands. It takes on a prosperous look while those vendors continuously shout their wares. You can enjoy fried pig’s intestines or fried Squid at the price between 3 and 5 yuan.

Recommendations: Fried Butter Cake, Pease Pudding, Flour Tea, Lvdagun, Fried Cake, Douzhi, Sweet Baked Cake and Sweet Ears. Address: No. 1, Longfu Temple Front Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing.

Baikui Laohao: it is one of the most renowned Muslim restaurants. It is noted for Braised Mutton of unique flavor. Recommendations:  Braised Mutton, Chrysanthemum Sheep head, Roasted Pigeon, Shao Du Ban, Zaotiao Soup and others.

If the National Art Museum of China is not close, you may come to appreciate arts. After appreciation, you can move south along Imperial Palace Wall Relics Park that is always glamorous all year around. If you are tired, you may walk through Pudusi West Alley and Back Alley between Nanheyan Street and Nanchizi Avenue.

The National Art Museum of China: it is a national level art museum dedicated to displaying, collecting and researching the modern and contemporary artistic works of China. Located at No. 1 Wusi Avenue, Dongcheng District, Beijing, it has Meishuguan East Street connected with Longfu Temple on the left and neighbors Imperial Palace Wall Relics Park and the Red Mansion of Peking University on Shatan Street on the right and Wangfujing Shopping Street in the south. Opening hours:  9:00-17:00 (the ticket window is closed at 16:00 and open on national statutory holidays).

Imperial Palace Wall Relics Park: it has a garden scenic spot themed with the quadrangle courtyard of the old Beijing and 10 tier springs according to the topography. 6 sculptures and 3 relief carvings in the park represent Beijing’s unique cultural environment and historical vein. Address: the West of Wangfujing Shopping Street. Before Arts & Crafts Emporium in Wangfujing, it costs 10 yuan to take a sightseeing bus with a tour guide around Imperial Palace Wall Relics Park. These buses can depart at any time.

Night Market of Donghuamen Avenue: the visitors to Beijing for the first time cannot miss the Great Wall and Wangfujing Shopping Street. In waning lights, Wangfujing Shopping Street neighbors the best destination for food, Donghuamen Night Market, which is the largest night market of snacks. In the evening, you can see nearly 100 stands facing south in a row from east to west; vendors’ continuous shouting their wares catches the attention of passers-by, presenting a magnificent look; cars stream over the driveway while people crowd on the snack street; the streets are bustling with tourists both at home and abroad.

Wangfujing Shopping Street: the snack street extends to the north as the folk cultural street in Wangfujing. Here, the street is narrower than the normal ones. You can simultaneously touch stands at both sides in the street. Numerous visitors come here for various folk arts and crafts and folk products such as paper kites, cloisonné, clay figures, pottery figures, embroidery, lanterns, jade ornaments, facial makeup, porcelain and stampers.
