Shenquanxia Scenic Spot
Situated at Tanchang Village, Miaofengshan Town, Mentougou District, Shenquanxia Scenic Spot is about 45km away from Beijing’s downtown. With a rare geologic structure, it is made up by limestone during the Cambrian Period 500 million years ago in the east and volcanics during the Jurassic Period 150 million years ago. With a total area of 15㎡ and an average altitude of over 1,200m, the scenic spot enjoys a fabulous landscape with exuberant greenery, chirping birds and fragrant flowers. Among lofty mountains and deep cliffs hides one after another gurgling brook and pond, offering a mountain and water sight that is rarely seen in Beijing.
Inside, serene brooks and ponds zigzag all over the scenic spot, linking all tourist attractions together. There are Apricot Garden, Spring Pavilion, Baimu Orchard, Sightseeing Pavilion, Sidie Waterfall, Suspension Bridge Walkway, Hongshi Valley, Guma Field, Shitan Cave, Nanxi Waterfall, Nanhu Staircase and so on. Come autumn, every nook and cranny here is in a riot of color. Fallen leaves are dancing in the autumn wind and all kinds of cute wild flowers are vying to bloom. What a fascinating sight it is!

Jingxi Shibatan Scenic Spot
Jingxi Shibatan Scenic Spot is located in the close vicinity of National Highway 109 in Wangping Town, Mentougou District. Here, winding brooks bubble away all year round. Some rapids flow down dazzlingly high cliffs, creating mighty waterfalls. Some rapids flow to deep ravines, creating placid ponds. Thus, the scenic spot has gotten a name for itself with a natural landscape featuring “three waterfalls, six sceneries and eighteen ponds”. These tiny ponds diverse in shape have made a perfect contrast with surrounding grotesque rocks and peaks, inspiring people to dream up myriad beautiful folk legends.
