“Charming Beijing” Tourism Promotion Held in Stockholm, Sweden

In order to attract more Beijing-bound Swedish tourists, Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development (BMCTD) held "Charming Beijing" tourism promotion activity in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, to publicize Beijing tourism resources and show Beijing city image.

On September 14 local time, the “Charming Beijing” Beijing tourism photo exhibition and public day held in Stockholm, Sweden. Tourism representatives of Sweden’s Stockholm and representatives of the BMCTD attended the activity and cut the ribbon. Participants included the tourism enterprises, local mainstream media and about 500 people of Sweden.

The advertising videos of Beijing tourism on that day brought Swedish a new visual experience. The delegation of the BMCTD introduced rich tourism resources of Beijing, and business department of Air China in Sweden and Capital Hotel Beijing introduced their own products respectively and exchanged with local tourism enterprises. Air China reviewed the achievements obtained since the open of flights. The delegation of BMCTD made discussions with all parties on future tourism development and cultural exchanges of two cities.

Before the activity, the BMCTD launched advertising of Beijing tourism images on buses, which cruised in busy downtown.  The advertising video also debuted on the large electronic screen in T-central, the subway station of Stockholm with a highest throughput of people in Stockholm with numerous passers-by and visitors every day, which lasted for 14 days. The unremitting publicity efforts will greatly deepen the understanding of tourists and locals to Beijing’s city image and tourism resources, and enhance the appeal of Beijing tourism.

On the public day, apart from the photo exhibition, the delegation of the BMCTD also handed out promotional materials and souvenirs, set interactive experience activities, such as Chinese imperial costume trying on, local Beijing cuisines tasting, Beijing Opera facial masks handing drawing. These activities have not only made Beijing better recognized with the city brand image of “Charming Beijing” and Beijing’s tourism resources better known among locals, but also given a full display of Beijing’s charming fusion of history and modernity and led the trend of experiencing the tourism culture of Beijing.

On September 13, a day marking the 30th anniversary of the opening of Beijing - Stockholm flight by Air China, Beijing tourism photo exhibition was co-held by Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development and Air China. Dozens of exquisite pictures were obviously displayed at exits of Arlanda Airport which would last for over one month.

In addition to promotion activities in Sweden, the BMCTD also made promotion and sales online to publicize Beijing tourism resources and products in Swedish for two months by partners in Northern Europe of TUI Group.
