The Today Art Museum invited 15 curators to a forum to discuss the future of museums on International Museum Day, which fell on May 18.

Themed "What can museums do to change?," the forum was attended by representatives of major museums and galleries such as the Beijing Capital Museum and The Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai.

Curators from the Design Society in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province, also participated in the forum. Each gave a speech outlining their understanding of the current situation museums face today and offered suggestions concerning new ways to lead museum culture into the future.

A round table discussion was also held so professionals in the field could share their experiences.

"We purposely chose guests from three newly built museums and three other experienced museum curators to share their success stories running museums," the host of the event said.

"As a curator, I have noticed that a great team is relatively important, for a museum is like a team and curators need help from their team members," Cristiana Collu, the curator of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, said at the round table discussion.
