Jia Chinese Restaurant launches ‘Warm Sunlight’ menu

2018-05-26

Since opening Jia Chinese Restaurant three years ago, NUO is delighted to present an exciting and delicious new menu for guests. The menu will present their most celebrated dishes of the past, in addition to many exquisite new Cantonese-style dishes.

Chinese Executive Chef Ho Hau Yuen has 20 years of experience with Cantonese cuisine. He combines a range of cooking styles like steaming and sautéing with the freshest ingredients to bring out the natural flavors of his dishes, in a style dubbed "New Cantonese" cooking. Along with Chef Ho, Chef Mui Wing Fai is also collaborating on the new menu. Chef Mui's celebrated knife skills enhance the beauty of the dishes' presentation. Their new menu will not only feature Cantonese cuisine but also delicate Huaiyang cuisine from the Yangtze River region.

Chef Ho and Chef Mui were invited to the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics to cook for sporting and industry VIPs and to introduce Cantonese cuisine to the world. Come and enjoy Jia's new menu, and embark on a culinary conversation with two of China's most talented chefs. Every dish is an innovative interplay between fresh ingredients, time-honored cooking techniques and perfect seasoning, which brings out the best possible taste.

The restaurant's name is pronounced "he jia" in Chinese and has a poetic meaning. The "he" symbolizes harmony between the four seasons, as well as between yin and yang, while "jia" refers to the comfort of home. Using these words as their inspiration, they have created a dining experience exemplified by the notion of bathing in warm sunlight while savoring a Chinese gourmet experience that is second to none.

Jia, NUO Hotel Beijing's signature Chinese restaurant, conveys the warm embrace of a welcoming home and recalls the familiarity and comfort derived from home-cooked meals. Contemporary artist Tang Bohua imitates Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) artist, calligrapher and epicure Xu Wei's freestyle flower-and-bird ink wash paintings, adding details of food ingredients into the paintings in tandem with Xu Wei's food-related works, whilst the restaurant's ambiance evokes the natural setting of an exquisite, elegant home. Chefs from Hong Kong incorporate Ming Dynasty cultural elements in cooking authentic Cantonese cuisine, with an emphasis on sourcing fresh, premium green ingredients from NUO's own Green Farm for healthy dining. With 10 luxurious, elegantly decorated private rooms, Jia provides the ideal venue for any event.
