The Sixth Beijing Agricultural Carnival that lasted for 58 days drew curtains last weekend. This year's carnival consisted of eight sections and has been an important stage for showcasing modern agriculture in Beijing. Since its opening on March 17, the carnival has attracted over 1.12 million visitors and gathered a total income of 284 million yuan (US$44.76 million).

During the carnival, the organizing committee incorporated more than 200 interactive activities to engage with the visitors. Novel hands-on programs such as oil extraction by water substitution, sugar-pulling, and bamboo fan crafting have given the visitors first-hand experiences of various agricultural production processes.

Over 1,000 agricultural products from more than 300 agricultural companies were exhibited on 184 booths, both were record numbers. Zou Zuxin, the person in charge of the organizing committee, said that the committee selected the 300 companies from over 600 applicants by quality and market recognition to guarantee satisfactory sales and outcomes of the carnival.

On weekends and public holidays during the carnival, it held 60 themed shows and events such as artistic performance, regional promotion campaign, and educational achievement exhibition at a small square in the strawberry park. The strawberry gardens nearby received 2.56 million visitors during the carnival, selling 1.98 million kilograms of strawberries worth 123 million yuan. The carnival was also able to boost the number of visitors on custom tours in neighboring towns. A total of 732,600 visitors brought 116 million yuan to nearby towns of Yanshou, Xingshou, Small Tangshan, Cuicun, Baishan, and Nanshao.
