2020-06-26

The Lotus Pond Park, a first-grade Beijing ancient heritage park, is located in Fengtai District and close to Jingmen - Beijing West Railway Station. The Park is the birthplace of Beijing City, so there is a saying going like “Beijing comes after the Lotus Pond". During the temple fair, eastern and western squares of the Park will stage performances of different styles in the morning and afternoon every day, and the eastern square will hold a large-scale carnival activity.

Lotus Pond Temple Fair is a platform "for the protection of intangible cultural heritage and the promotion of national culture" and is a brand cultural activity organized by Fengtai District each year. Through a series of activities, the old-timey Beijing urban landscape is reproduced.

Lotus Pond Temple Fair is a grand traditional folk event of the ethnic Han that integrates commerce, tourism, beliefs, entertainment, folk culture and arts. The traditional cultural activities mainly include worship gods of wealth at Wuxiancaishen Temple (Five Prominent Wealth Gods Temple) by the Lotus Pond, and hold Spring Festival performances of the "Five Wealth Gods" around the lake.

The Lotus Pond will gather raree show, a representative folk art with distinctive folk custom features, one-man show, folk Huahui performances, folk arts and crafts exhibitions and sales, including facial makeup in Peking operas, maohou (hairy monkeys, traditional handicrafts of old-timey Beijing), Beijing kites, Beijing clay figurine, Beijing paper-cuts, sugar-figure blowing, dough figurine and other folk crafts.  Peking Opera fans area will have “couplets exhibition” with the Spring Festival atmosphere.
