The 2017 Global Diplomats' Chinese Cultural Night was held to boost international communication and promote "win-win" cooperation between China and foreign countries.

Nearly 1,000 delegates, including more than 400 diplomats from 156 countries and regions as well as representatives from leading Chinese enterprises, gathered at the China World Hotel in Beijing on Dec. 2 to enjoy a night of performances highlighting the traditional cultures of China and other nations in the world.

The event included a forum for various countries to promote their cultures, a photography contest, an exhibition on China's intangible cultural heritage, a red carpet event and a gala dinner.

The audience witnessed a series of performances, including an incense-themed show, traditional Chinese operas, a cheongsam fashion show put on by the spouses of diplomats, and shows by cultural groups sent by foreign embassies in China.

Bayney Karran, Guyana's ambassador to China and the rotating chairman of the event's organizing committee, said in a speech addressing the gala dinner that the event promoted understanding among the different peoples of the world, thereby helping to maintain global stability, peace and development.
