Numerous traditional restaurants in Beijing are credited with great contributions in the formation of Beijing cuisine, but many of them have gone out of business as time went by. However, some of them are still flourishing today.

2017 ‘A Taste of Beijing’ Food Map for Travelers (abbr. Food Map) was released on Nov. 28, 2017. Here some time-honored brands in Beijing recommended by the Food Map.

Donglaishun

Founded in 1903, Donglaishun Restaurant is famous for its traditional flavor Instant-boiled Mutton hotpot. Boiled in distinctive copper pots over white-hot charcoal, the mutton features fresh and tender in texture without any other spices apart from a few green onion and ginger.

Meiweizhai

Meiweizhai is a Chinese time-honored brand with history of 61 years. It is a well-known restaurant specializes in Shanghai cuisine and has gained popularity among the old generation in Beijing.
