Take a Tour Around the Backyard of Beijing

Known as the backyard of Beijing, Ji County is a place brimming with natural landscape and delicious food. Tourists can take K7783, which costs 14.5 yuan per person, to Ji County. The train is from Beijing East Railway Station to Jixian Station. The train is only available twice a day (both way, one in the morning, the other in the afternoon). The whole journey takes 59 minutes.

Mount Pan

Mount Pan was visited by Qianlong Emperor 32 times. Amazed by the picturesque scenery here, he sighed, “Why would I go to the South when Mount Pan is so near?” The place, renowned for its stunning landscape, has been frequented and praised by many men of letters since ancient times. Their praises of the mountain are now hold as the precious cultural heritage. Dubbed “the first mountain to the east of Beijing”, Mount Pan is famous for its 72 temples and almost a thousand monks. The essence of Mount Pan though is its Buddhism culture.

Traffic Guide: Take Bus Route 12 specifically assigned for tourism at the train station and get off at Mount Pan. The whole journey takes about an hour.

Huangyaguan Great Wall

Huangyaguan Pass was a vital pass of the Great Wall to Ji County in Ming Dynasty and it was also the only pass to Ji County. The stones on the east side of the great wall are tawny. When the sunset glow lays on the tawny stones, a magnificent view will be formed. That’s why it is dubbed “The Shiny Great Wall at Dusk”. The area is covered with verdant trees and surrounded by mountains. Therefore, it is the place where you can feast on both the picturesque landscape and cultural heritage. The place will make you feel like that you’re temporarily secluded from the outside world.

Dule Temple

Dule Temple, also known as the Buddhist Temple, covers an area of 16,000km2. It’s situated in the West Street of Ji County in Tianjin. It is one of the three temples built in Liao Dynasty that remained. It is also one of the ten major attractions in Tianjin.

The temple is surrounded by the Drum Tower Square which is specifically designed to highlight Ji County’s long history and cultural heritage. It is a quadrangle compound with three duplicate drum towers on the east, west and south. And your taste buds can also be satisfied with the various kinds of delicacies here, be it local snacks or a big meal.
