Beijing has plenty of Russian restaurants to pick from, among which, Moscow Restaurant has a long history with the city. Opened in 1954, Moscow restaurant has been Beijing's first foreign restaurant. The restaurant was renovated in 2000 but the splendid architecture of Russian building was preserved. It resembles a small palace with soaring ceilings and ornate fixtures and is quite stunning.

The restaurant serves Russian favorites like Borscht, Chicken Kiev, Gerkin, Braised Beef Fillet in Casserole and vodka. The dining room is exquisitely decorated in classical Russian style and you can see Russian folk singers in traditional outfits playing Russian instruments at the dining hall. Beautifully carved wooden armchairs are upholstered in richly colored floral prints.

Moscow Restaurant has developed greatly the past 50 years but people can still taste the same traditional foods that they did half a century ago. As a half-century classic, it is still a perfect place to enjoy an authentic Russian flavor.
