Public Welfare Performances Staged in Shunyi, Beijing

The“You and Me, Feel Beijing” international public welfare activity, organized by Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development and China Commission of Promotion of Publicity for the Undertakings of Chinese Disabled Persons (CCPPUCDP) opened at Shunyi International Flower Port on the afternoon of October 1. Li Xiangying, Deputy District Mayor of Shunyi, Yu Ganqian, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, and Xu Gang, Deputy Secretary-General of CCPPUCDP attended the event.

The activity coincided with the Chrysanthemum Culture Festival at the same place. Representatives of the disabled were invited to enjoy fantastic flower landscapes and splendid performance through the barrier-free paths at the port.

Beijing has strengthened tourism services for the disabled. The number of barrier-free facilities in many tourist spots of the city has increased greatly, such as wheelchairs, disabled toilets, and ramps. The Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development will further improve the tourism environment and create favorable conditions for tourism, culture and life for the disabled, said Yu Ganqian, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.

In addition, a paintings and calligraphy exhibition by disabled artists opened, where more than 160 pieces works were showcased, displaying the cultural life of the underprivileged.

These activities will enrich the disabled people’s lives and help the festival become an engine promoting tourism development and the disabled culture.
