The first on-site international consultation is held in the Xiongan New Area in the city of Baoding, Hebei Province from July 14 to 16, 2017.

The meetings have been focused on the urban design of the start-up area. 12 design agencies both from home and abroad sent teams to Baoding, taking part in vigorous discussions and on-the-spot surveys.

The urban design of the start-up area is said to be an important part of the Xiongan New Area's planning and construction.

On June 26, 2017, the government announced plans to include international consultations as part of Xiongan's urban design. More than 200 design agencies applied. A dozen were finally chosen for their advanced design concepts and world-class techniques.
