Klezmer Band Di Gasn Trio Comes to DDC

2017-02-23

DiGasn Trio is an Israeli band with strong musical influences from Balkan folk and Klezmer, the musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews in Eastern Europe.

Klezmer developed as a style of dance tunes and instrumental pieces for weddings and other celebrations. Di Gasn Trio shares the joy and sadness of this music with traditional and original melodies.

Unlike most bands with basic guitar, drum and bass players, Di Gasn Trio utilizes traditional instruments. Gal Klein plays clarinet and sings vocals, Yanush Hurwitz plays accordion and Ori Naveh plays percussion.

The band members met in the halls of the Jerusalem Music Academy. Each brought his own musical influences to the band to create an innovative and improvised sound. Di Gasn Trio released their debut album in 2015.

Their original acoustic and amplified concerts get listeners up and moving – whether they planned on dancing that night or not.
