The Beijing Yellow Temple is located on Huangsi Street outside Andingmen and consists of the East Yellow Temple and the West Yellow Temple. Therefore, it is also named Double Yellow Temple.
The East Yellow Temple is also named Pu Jing Chan Lin, constructed in the 8th year of Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty in 1651, and the West Yellow Temple was constructed in 9th year of Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty in 1652. The 5th Dalai Lama came to Beijing and stayed in the West Yellow Temple in December 1652 and left Beijing in 1653. In 1780, the 6th Panchen Erdeni visited Beijing and Emperor Qianlong appointed the West Yellow Temple as the lodge of the Panchen.
The gate of the West Yellow Temple opens to the south and has a large palace in which there is a bell tower and a drum tower at its entrance. The second part of the temple is large palace and in front of it there is one stele pavilion on each side. In 1723, the kind of Mongolia cast a Buddha’s statue and sent it to the Buddhist temple, renovated in 1771. In 1782, Qingjinghua City was constructed at the back of the temple in 1782. The West Yellow Temple is also named Dalai Temple and the Qingjinghua City is a panchen pagoda, surrounded by stone railings on all sides. In front or at the back of it is a white stone arch gate.
