1. Tianning Temple Pagoda

Located outside Guang'anmen in Beijing, it is one of the tallest tight-tiled pagoda in the ancient capital, a valuable memento of the Liao Dynasty. The octagonal pagoda, 57.8 meters tall, was erected on a square platform. The bottom of the pagoda is in the form of a huge Sumeru pedestal, decorated with carved arch patterns. At the corners there are relief sculptures of heavenly guardians accompanied by another level of carved arches. A veranda with banisters and brackets was built around the upper part of the pedestal.

5. Cishou Temple

The pagoda at Cishou Temple at Balizhuang in Beijing's western suburbs was originally named Yong'anwanshou Pagoda. Later it was called Cishou Pagoda after the temple it was in. Cishou Temple was built in 1576 during the Ming Dynasty by decree of Empress Dowager Li, mother of Emperor Zhuyi. It was allegedly an imitation of the pagoda at Tianning Temple outside Guang'anmen, but it was built on a larger scale. The temple buildings were destroyed during the Qing Dynasty, but the pagoda remains.

4. Randengfo Sheli Pagoda

RandengFo Sheli Pagoda is short for Sheli Pagoda, commonly known as Tongzhou Pagoda. The pagoda is in octagonal shape with thirteen floors. The total height is about 49 meters and the basement platform of the pagoda is in the shape of lotus. It used to be a stone sculpture of Randeng Buddha that enshrined within the pagoda.

3. Qingjinghuayu Pagoda

Qingjinghuayu Pagoda is also named Xihuang Temple Pagoda, commonly known as “Bachan 6th Pagoda” that built in 1782. Details of the pagoda's history were recorded on a stone tablet erected in 1784. The complex of five pagodas was built on a stone platform about three meters high. Two stone archways with ornamental patterns of dragons, phoenixes and the Eight Treasures decorate the sides of the platform. Two fantastic-looking animals with long tails and wings and tongues sticking out stand in front.

2. White Pagoda in Miaoying Temple

The White Pagoda in Miaoying Temple is the earliest one of the Lamaist pagodas, and also the most splendid construction of the domestic Lamaist pagodas. The White Pagoda was first constructed in 1271, and finished after an 8-year period. Generally speaking, the project is great and bringing to mind the majestic and grand. The huge pagoda foundation is an octagonal double-floor Sumeru pedestal made of bricks; while its height achieves 9 meters high. In mass, the foundation looks magnificent. There is a huge lotus-flower-leave-shape construction built on the pagoda foundation to support the round pagoda body whose top half is narrow while below half broad.
