Wang Weizhong is a Chinese artist living in America. Born in Suzhou in 1962, Wang graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts. In his school days, he succeeded in attracting wide concerns on his people series of the Yellow River and the Tai-hang Mountains. In the 1990s, he went to Dunhuang and spent six years there compiling Grotto Art of Dunhuang. In 1998, at the invitation of the University of Chicago in the US, he went to America and settled there as an outstanding artist. He reviews the traditional beyond the horizon and inherits the beauty of poetry in the Oriental art. He sets up a glorious example for contemporary artists in terms of tenacity in arts and clarity in the state of arts.

In his works, the artist uses his life and emotion to cast art language which is independent, pure and poetic and in the perspective of an art disciplinant, reveals new possibilities of contemporary art. The theme of the exhibition signifies the poetry of the oriental purity, a peace and quiet ideal nation as well as a poetic world contemplated by a lonely ascetical artist.
