Fangshan Line to Get Extension

Fangshan Line to Get Extension

2014-03-07

The Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning has confirmed that the Fangshan Line will extend northwards to Fengyiqiaonan Station. This subway project has already been approved and the new line is estimated to come into use by 2017, the Beijing News reported.

The four new stations are: Fanyanglu Station, Sihuanlu Station, Shoujingmao Station and Fengyiqiaonan Station. The extension stretches five kilometers underground and will connect Fangshan Line with Line 10 and the yet-to-be-built Line 16.

The extension of Fangshan Line is being implemented for two reasons: to make it convenient for passengers who live along the Fangshan Line to commute downtown or transfer to other lines, and to divert passengers from Guogongzhuang Station, which is the only transfer station on the current Fangshan Line.
