As the opening grand show of the China National Theatre for Children's 70th anniversary performance season, the children's percussion musical Mu Lan will be staged for 18 consecutive performances from April 25 to May 17 at the China National Theatre for Children. This production combines percussion with musical theatre for the first time, creating a family-friendly artistic experience with vivid characters and playful stage expressions.

The story tells the legend of Mu Lan joining the army in place of her father. Having learned martial arts from an early age, Mu Lan decides to disguise herself as a man and enlist after her father is called up but is unable to serve due to an old injury. Along the way, she befriends Hou Dafu, a cook in the army. After joining the camp, Mu Lan faces suspicion from fellow soldiers but uses her cooking skills and quick wit to defuse crises. She also distinguishes herself by raiding the enemy camp at night and burning their supplies. Five years later, in the decisive battle at Daze, she and Hou Dafu cleverly deploy a fire ox formation and take advantage of a solar eclipse to defeat the enemy, returning home in triumph. After the war, Mu Lan takes off her armor and returns to her peaceful rural life.
