Beijing subway extends operating hours on 8 lines for Oct 7 & 8

2025-10-07

On October 7 and 8, traffic pressure is expected to intensify on inbound highways in Beijing from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Railways will also experience a peak in return passenger flow during this period. At key stations such as Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station, and Beijing Chaoyang Station, as well as on surrounding roads, vehicle queues are likely to form during peak arrival times.

Passengers are advised to stay updated with travel alerts and road condition information released by transportation authorities, plan their travel time, mode, and routes wisely, and avoid peak hours and congested sections. Using public transportation to and from railway stations and airports is highly recommended.

The toll-free period for highways will end at midnight on October 8.

According to transportation authorities, October 7 and 8 (the last two days of the holiday) are expected to see peak return traffic. From 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, inbound highways will face significant pressure, with potential congestion on sections of major expressways such as Jingzang, Jingcheng, Jinggang'ao, Jinghu, Jingkai, Beijing Capital Airport Expressway, and the West Sixth Ring Road. Inbound inspection stations including Xingli on Jinggang'ao, Lixian on Jingtai, and Yugang on Jingkai may also experience heavy traffic.

Highway operators will enhance service support by keeping all toll booth lanes open and deploying tow trucks in advance. In case of traffic accidents, coordinated efforts with traffic management departments will ensure quick clearance and handling to improve traffic efficiency. Service areas will also enhance charging capabilities and other services to better support electric vehicles.

The toll-free policy for passenger vehicles on highways will end at midnight on October 8. Vehicles exiting toll roads before this time will be exempt from tolls.

According to weather forecasts, significant rainfall is expected from October 8 to 9, which may lead to slippery roads and reduced visibility, potentially impacting return travel, especially on highways.

On October 7 and 8, eight subway lines will extend their operating hours.

During the last two days of the holiday, railways will witness a peak in return passenger flow. At key stations such as Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station, Beijing Chaoyang Station, Beijing Railway Station, and Fengtai Station, as well as on pick-up and drop-off platforms, parking lot entrances and exits, and surrounding road sections, vehicle queues are likely to form.

Some trains will arrive in Beijing in the early morning. Transportation authorities have implemented multiple measures to ensure seamless connections for passengers arriving at night. On October 7 and 8, eight subway lines—Line 2, Line 3, Line 4, Line 7, Line 10, Line 14, Line 19, and the Daxing Airport Express—will extend their operating hours. Additionally, Line 10 and Line 16 at Fengtai Station will open earlier. Bus services will increase night and shuttle capacity, while taxis and ride-hailing services will enhance scheduling, with over 3,000 dedicated vehicles operating in rotation. Airport buses will provide comprehensive transportation support for airport passengers.
