On October 24, conductor Yang Yang will lead the China Philharmonic Orchestra at the Poly Theater, joining forces with renowned violinist Gil Shaham, mezzo-soprano Ildikó Komlósi, and the China National Opera House Chorus to bring the festival to a close with a musical feast blending Eastern and Western aesthetics. The program will feature excerpts from Chinese Kitchen: A Feast of Flavors by young Hong Kong composer Elliot Leung, commissioned by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, alongside Johannes Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody and Violin Concerto in D Major.
At the closing concert, excerpts from Elliot Leung’s Chinese Kitchen: A Feast of Flavors will offer audiences a surprising artistic experience. Commissioned by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, this work uses iconic Chinese culinary images such as " Da Hong Pao Tea," "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall (a cuisine in Fujian)," and "Beijing Roast Duck" to vividly interpret the rich nuances of Chinese gastronomic culture through orchestral language, showcasing the innovative vitality of contemporary Chinese composers.
