On October 20, the BBC Philharmonic concert will center on the theme of multicultural dialogue and engagement with the times. The symphony feast traversing Eastern and Western musical contexts will open with City of Floating Sounds, a new work by young composer Huang Ruo. Commissioned jointly by Factory International (Manchester), Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (New York), National Taichung Theater, and West Kowloon Cultural District (Hong Kong), and produced by Factory International, this piece for orchestra seamlessly blends traditional Chinese musical elements with modern compositional techniques.
