On October 19, contemporary legendary pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev will take the stage at Forbidden City Concert Hall with the Rachmaninoff International Orchestra, which he founded. Conductor Kirill Karabits will lead the orchestra in performing 14 Mémoires musicales by Pletnev—a work imbued with cherished memories from his childhood to youth—as well as Capriccio Bohémien by the master composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, an early work rich with Slavic folk music flavors and brilliant orchestration techniques. Maestro Pletnev will also join forces with rising young Chinese pianist Tianxu An to perform his own composition, the double piano concerto Fantasia Elvetica.
