On October 10, renowned conductor Long Yu will lead the China Philharmonic Orchestra, joined by the outstanding young pianist Haochen Zhang, winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, to open the festival at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. They will perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5. The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of the Soviet master Dmitri Shostakovich, and this year's festival has planned multiple performances of his works in tribute.
