In the autumn of Shougang Park, it will be more lively due to the hosting of CIFTIS and WTT. The "Shougang Park Music Concert" will also officially return on September 10th. Moshikou (模式口), originally named "Moshikou (磨石口)," is named after its abundant production of blue stone for sharpening knives. Moshikou was famous during the Ming and Qing dynasties, located on the ancient Camel Bell Road where merchants and travelers gathered.
Camel Bell Road
Moshikou Camel Bell Road is the starting point of the ancient road in the west of Beijing. The main line of the western Beijing ancient road is the "West Mountain Road," connecting various north-south branch roads, with the hub of the central and northern roads being the Camel Bell Road that runs through the 1500-meter-long Moshikou Street. It combines five functions: commercial road, incense road, military road, secret road, and cultural road.
In order to accommodate merchants and travelers on the ancient road, a large number of shops were built on the streets of Moshikou. Moshikou was most prosperous and bustling from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China era, enjoying a great reputation in the western Beijing area.
Fahai Temple and Fahai Temple Mural Art Museum
Fahai Temple is located at the southern foot of Cuiwei Mountain in western Beijing. It was built in the fourth year of the Ming Emperor Yingzong's Zhengtong reign (1439) by the eunuch Li Tong, funded by the imperial treasury, and constructed by the Ministry of Works. Emperor Yingzong granted the temple the name "Fahai Zen Temple." The temple houses murals from the Ming Dynasty, making it the oldest and most well-preserved mural in Beijing's history.
The Fahai Temple Mural Art Museum near Fahai Temple was built by the Shijingshan government to interpret the Fahai Temple murals in a digital way. In the digital exhibition hall, 4K high-definition screens faithfully reproduce the mural originals, allowing viewers to zoom in and focus on specific details, and present the mural content item by item.
Recently, the Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block launched the "Moshikou Fahai Temple Combo Ticket" and "One Ticket Tour" activities.
The 66 RMB "Moshikou Fahai Temple Combo Ticket" is for exploring Fahai Temple, while the 130 RMB ticket is for a deep mural experience tour (including a visit to the Fahai Temple mural originals). Fahai Temple Fried Cake King
"Fahai Temple Fried Cake King" at the foot of Fahai Temple has become a signature snack in Moshikou.
The fried cakes come in two varieties: the white rice cake has a soft and sticky texture, while the golden yellow millet cake is rich and chewy. The crispy golden brown crust, non-sticky pulled rice, wrapped in granular sweet red bean paste, crispy on the outside and tender inside, sweet but not greasy, reminiscent of the childhood taste of many people in Shijingshan.
