Plot Summary:

Li Yuexiang, a 48-year-old housewife, spends her days dealing with her unemployed daughter, nagging father-in-law, indifferent husband, and mother who is gradually losing her memory. Exhausted, Li Yuexiang has become a "prisoner" trapped in her life. Thirty years later, her childhood friend Xiaowei seems to be about to enter her stagnant life. In the iron cage-like dilemma, she faintly sees a ray of light. On one side is the unchanging trivial daily life, on the other side is the mysterious temptation with an unknown end point. How will Li Yuexiang spend the second half of her life? She must make a choice amidst the dilemma and challenges.

Highlights of the Play:

This play is written in the form of a monologue, depicting the daily life experiences and inner changes of an ordinary middle-aged woman within a day. With the combination of light, shadow, and music, and through innovative prop design and stage management, the method of one person playing multiple roles is effectively presented. In a light and humorous overall tone, the play smoothly completes a rhythmic stage narrative and rich emotional expression, while creating a unique dramatic tension different from traditional storytelling.

Scenes From A Marriage

Plot introduction:

John and Marianne, a model couple who have appeared in "Women's Fashion World". However, one day, the castle of this middle-class intellectual family suddenly collapsed.

They separated, divorced, fell in love with different partners, remarried, but could never find the perfect marriage of body and soul.

Several years later, on a sunny afternoon, John and Marianne avoided their legal partners and met again...

Highlights of the play:

In 1973, Swedish director and screenwriter Ingmar Bergman wrote and directed a six-episode TV series "Scenes From A Marriage", which caused a sensation when it aired. He later adapted the TV series into a movie and a play. Bergman, with his profound insight, raises questions about marriage and intimate relationships.

Director Guo Shixing, through various stage techniques, takes Bergman's "attitude" to the extreme. The minimalist stage setting, the anti-dramatic naturalistic performances, and the almost intimate dialogue all point to one thing: this is not a play, this is our daily life, the unavoidable "Scenes From A Marriage".

My son Fuhai went to work with the salt smuggling team in another place to earn a few more coins, but fell ill and couldn't bear to buy medicine. I spent all my savings to transport his body, and collapsed in the vast snow.

Highlights of the play:

The play tells the story of the protagonist "me" and his laborious, miserable, and desolate life experiences. In the play, a group of "paper people" that I mounted, similar to the "chorus" in ancient Greek dramas, runs through the entire play, leaving a deep impression on the audience. Through the form of Beijing Opera, the play vividly portrays the customs, social changes, and the good and evil of human nature in old Beijing. The unique storytelling art and the singing style rich in Beijing local flavor add a unique charm to the play.
