To the east of the North Area of the National Library of China's main building, there is a magical venue that can make people feel younger, which is the Children's Library. The National Library of China Children's Library has two floors. The first floor is the parent-child reading area, and the second floor is the youth reading area. There are about 80,000 documents available for children readers to read in the library.

Parent-Child Reading Area

The parent-child reading area of the National Library of China Children's Library is mainly divided into an activity reading area, a digital reading area and a theme activity room. The books in the library are mainly picture books, including phonetic books, bilingual books...

The design of soft cushions and circular bookshelves is free and comfortable, allowing children to feel reading and fall in love with reading in the most relaxed state.

Children can experience the fun of digital reading here. Rich audio and video resources make the static knowledge in books come alive. However, the library requires that only children over 6 years old can enter the digital reading area to study. The theme activity room also has various activities, such as warm parent-child activities, hands-on puzzle activities, wonderful reading activities... with various forms of activities.

Youth Reading Area

Stepping into the second floor of the Children's Library, the quiet environment and simple layout can meet the different reading needs of "older" teenagers.

There are all kinds of children's novels, such as the Little Newton Science Museum, classic Chinese studies like "A Thousand Family Poems", encyclopedias like "One Hundred Thousand Whys", dinosaur books, 3D books, literature, animal novels, happy novels, philosophy and social sciences, etc. Reference books such as Xinhua Dictionary, Idiom Dictionary, Chinese-English Dictionary, English Dictionary and essential ancient poems are also available in full range.

Capital Library of China Children's Library

Capital Library of China Children's Library is located on the 2nd to 3rd floors of Building A of Capital Library, with a service area of about 4,000 square meters. It has four areas according to different themes: "Parent-Child Lending Area (0-6 years old)", "Children's Chinese Books and Periodicals Lending Area (7-17 years old)", "Children's Foreign Language Books Reading Area (0-17 years old)", and "Youth Multimedia Space (6-17 years old)", providing various document lending and reading guidance services for young readers.

Beijing Haidian District Library Children's Department

The predecessor of Haidian District Library was the West Suburb Newspaper and Book Reading Office established by the Peking Education Bureau on Haidian West Street in 1917. It was officially named Haidian District Library in 1984. The total area of the library buildings is 35,000 square meters, with two current locations: the South Library covering 6,000 square meters and the North Library covering 29,000 square meters. The South Library is located in the core area of Zhongguancun, and the North Library is located in Wenquan, Haidian. The Children's Department of Haidian District Library is located on the 2nd floor of the South Library and the 1st floor of the North Library, both providing various document lending and reading guidance services for young readers.

Xicheng Children's Library

Xicheng Children's Library covers an area of 6,548 square meters, with one underground floor and four above-ground floors. The main building has more than ten open halls and rooms, including an integrated reading and lending room, a children's reading room, a newspaper and periodical reading room, an electronic reading room, an audio-visual room, training classrooms, a multi-functional lecture hall, large and small cinemas, and a digital cinema. It has a collection of more than 350,000 books, over 300 kinds of periodicals, and rich electronic document resources. The Green Apple Children's Library (opposite the main building) in the library area is available for readers to read temporarily. This library provides lending services.

Shijingshan District Children's Library

Beijing Shijingshan District Library has two locations and is a comprehensive public library. It has successively won titles such as "National Advanced Collective in the Cultural System", "Capital Civilized Unit Model", "National Top Ten Picture Book Libraries" and "National Most Beautiful Picture Book Libraries". Based on the district conditions of Shijingshan and focusing on the brand of "Books Gather in Shijingshan", it has gradually formed several brand activities such as "Shitu Forum", "Weekend Community Lecture Hall", "Red Scarf Reading", "Little Bookworm Club" and "Happy Reading Express". The Children's Library has a construction area of 3,236 square meters, with a collection of more than 300,000 books and over 500 kinds of periodicals, providing various document lending and reading guidance services for young readers. This library provides lending services.

Corner Tower Library

Located in a historic site, the library has also become a "historic site". The antique library is small and exquisite, with a construction area of about 1,160 square meters, The building has three floors, and only the first floor is opened to public until now.

Pushing open the door of Corner Tower Library, a unique smell of wood and books hits the face. The sound of guqin lingers, and green plants are lush. The old Beijing hutongs outlined with fine lines and the tools used for old Beijing street cries come into view.

The first floor of the library is a display area for Beijing-themed cultural activities and exhibitions, showing some old objects of Beijing. The buildings, books and exhibitions all tell the long past years of Beijing. This is also the most vivid part of the library, with lectures, reading sessions, guqin performances, tea-tasting activities... Corner Tower Library is open 365 days a year, with rich and colorful activities. Daily happiness is just that simple.

It is designed with many Beijing-style elements, and local documents reflecting the characteristic culture of old Beijing are placed in Corner Tower Library. Going up the wooden stairs to the second floor, there is a reading area. The red painted bookshelves and ceilings all over the room remind people that this is a traditional building.

The library has also specially set up an independent children's area. In the middle of the room, there are pink small tables and chairs, and along the bookshelves on the ground, there are colorful soft cushions. The height of the bookshelves only reaches the chest of adults, and there are more than 300 picture books from all over the world, making it convenient for children to access.
