On July 22, Jinshanling Great Wall Scenic Area announced via its official public account that from July 23, 2025, visitors aged 60 and above will enjoy free admission.
Eligible seniors must present valid original ID documents (second-generation ID card, passport, or Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan travel permit) at the entrance to receive the waiver.
Background
Jinshanling Great Wall is situated on Daxiao Jinshanling (Big and Small Jinshanling) in Bakeshiying, Luanping, Chengde, Hebei Province. Originally built in 1368 under General Xu Da during the Ming Dynasty, it features 5 passes, 67 watchtowers and 3 beacon towers. Its "Three Unique Features" (三绝) include the Kylin Screen Wall (麒麟影壁墙), Inscribed Brick Wall (文字砖墙), and General Tower Defense System (将军楼综合防御体系).
Known for its pristine landscape and fewer crowds, it attracts both domestic and international visitors. On December 25, 2020, it was designated a AAAAA National Tourist Attraction by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of PRC.
